Practice was a proud sponsor and attendee of the 2024 Association for Women in Architecture + Design (AWA+D) Symposium in early June. Held at the historic Herald Examiner Building in Downtown, Los Angeles, the day was full of speakers, roundtable discussions and presentations by industry leaders including Practice's own Ismaelly Peña and Nisreen Tarbell.
The duo presented their culminating findings supported by the AWA Foundation Mid-Career Fellowship Grant, an award that allowed a continuation of their study and development of exhibitions and participatory events around the impact of gentrification on the cultural heritage of Los Angeles' Highland Park neighborhood.Other attendees and AWA supporters included Diana Perez, Noelle White, Isa Mattia, and Staci Nesbitt. Isa and Staci are current Board Members of the AWA Foundation and Staci also serves as Fundraising Director of the AWA+D. This year’s “Advancing Together Through Partnerships” theme explored the benefits and possibilities of collaboration and partnerships. Personally, professionally, and collectively the day exhibited best practices for uniting professionals for collective progress and innovation.
