As part of the larger Covina Recreation Village project, the east warehouse building was identified as appropriate for an adaptive re-use renovation into the new Covina Public Library. In addition to the traditional library uses, the new facilities will host a number of community programs and spaces including children’s zone and story corner, English as a second language and literacy development, a multi-purpose public forum room, and offices for City staff.
The new library will engage and connect with the surrounding courtyards, gardens, and pocket parks that will stitch the larger village together. Further community integration will include accommodation in the design for public art murals celebrating the character and history of industry and transit within Covina and the larger San Gabriel Valley community.
